Have your say in Strengthening the European Child Guarantee
Last updated on Thursday, 26/03/2026
The Commission has published a call for feedback to contribute to strengthening the European Child Guarantee. The Call for evidence is open until 9 April 2026.
The objective of the European Child Guarantee is to prevent and combat social exclusion by guaranteeing effective access of children in need to a set of key services:
- free early childhood education and care
- free education (including school-based activities and at least one healthy meal each school day)
- free healthcare
- healthy nutrition
- adequate housing
Despite efforts at national level and the EU 2030 complementary target to reduce the number of children at risk of poverty or social exclusion by at least 5 million in comparison to 2019, the number of children in poverty has increased, making it even more important to provide children in need with effective access to key services.
The Commission foresees a Communication which will strengthen the European Child Guarantee with actions supporting national and local implementation and improving access to key services for children in need.
Want to contribute to these proposed actions? Have your say - Strengthening of the European Child Guarantee (open until 9 April 2026).
