We need you to revive EU Regions!

Last updated on Wednesday, 17/05/2023

Some EU regions face a high emigration of young people and a shrinking working-age population, which negatively affects their development. To tackle this issue, we wish to understand why young people leave their regions and what could make them stay.

Are you between 15 and 29 years old? Do you want to make your region a better place? Do you want to make a real difference to European policy?

If so, now is your chance! The EU wants to hear your voice!

The European Commission is working on a project to address the issue of shrinking youth populations in European regions. The loss of young people is detrimental for a region, notably for its economic development but also for its societal progress, diversity, innovation capacity and so on! To tackle the issue, we first need to identify why young people leave their regions and what potential solutions could look like.

The overall aim of our project is to develop a toolkit with policy recommendations that regional stakeholders, such as local decision-makers, higher education institutions, businesses etc. can use to retain and attract young people (notably from 15-29 years old) in their territories.

As part of the project, we have developed a short, five-minute (we promise!) questionnaire to understand the push and pull factors that certain regions might have for young people in the EU. By gathering your input, we wish to make sure to base the policy recommendations of this project on your opinions and perspectives! The questionnaire is available in all 24 official languages of the EU.

We want to reach as many young people from across the EU as possible. So, take the survey and share it with your friends!
