Welcome to the European Ateliers of Creative Writing

Last updated on Wednesday, 23/10/2024

Storytelling and young people… stronger than ever! What does a creative writing school consist of? There, writing is considered “(…) fundamentally a craft. A craft which, when practised with skill and talent, becomes art”.

In this video essay, you will find out more about the methods of creative writing schools and the exercises young aspiring writers practise with. Moreover, you will get the opportunity to take a visual tour of the schools. Maybe you didn’t know it, but there are many writing schools in Europe - almost every European country has one. In addition to the lessons and courses taking place there, a part of these schools united under the European Association of Creative Writing Programs (EACWP).

Thanks to the support of the European Union, within the framework of the Creative Europe Programme, partnering schools came up with a literary project called CELA (Connecting Emerging Literary Artists) to valorise young talents, represent linguistic minorities and give a future to literary artists.
