Youth Gathering brought closer EU and UK

Last updated on Wednesday, 15/11/2023

The EUDEL Youth Gathering 2023, held on 25 October, has brought together young people from all the UK to discuss the main challenges they face and how they see the EU-UK relations. The event also launched a network of EU Affairs Societies across UK Universities.

For the first time, the EU Delegation in the UK, in the framework of the Youth Action Plan on EU External Action, and in collaboration with the University College London, organised a Youth Gathering to:

          -    identify key challenges faced by youth
          -    collect their views on the future of the EU-UK relations.

The event engaged youth organisations and brought together over 100 young persons from all corners of the UK. This gave them the opportunity to discuss between themselves and directly communicate with EU officials and youth leaders. Make young people’s voices heard is, in fact, an important commitment of the EU, as a legacy of the European Year of Youth 2022.

A Network of European Affairs Societies was also launched by 18 UK Universities during the event. It will focus on promoting good relations between the EU and the UK. Additionally, more EU student societies are in the process of being created across the country.

Young people attending this Youth Gathering expressed they aim for excellent relations between the EU and UK. In particular, they highlighted the need for cooperation in several domains, namely in programmes like Erasmus+.
