Description
Voluntary Service of Armenia (HUJ) was founded in 1965 and is situated in the center of Yerevan. HUJ is a member of the Coordinating Committee of International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) at UNESCO and the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations. The volunteer will assist in HUJ activities and promotion of volunteering lifestyle, in organization of international voluntary activities, promotion of HUJ volunteering projects. The participant will learn the aspects of a work in a voluntary service organisation's office, how to organize international voluntary workcamps, seminars/trainings, details of a work with long-term volunteers. After finishing the project, HUJ will help the volunteer to find a job in a voluntary service organisation. The volunteer will also have Armenian language classes in a language center twice a week, located not far from the office of HUJ. The volunteer will always find here a friendly atmosphere. Duration of the project is 8-12 months.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will be provided with convenient accommodation: the dormitory of a university in Yerevan, near the city center, featuring same-gendered rooms with two occupants each, shared bathroom, and a spacious kitchen. This cozy dormitory is equipped with all necessities and ensures safety. Approximately 19 long-term HUJ volunteers from different European countries reside in the dormitory. On the first of each month, volunteers receive a monthly allowance, sent by HUJ to their bank cards, covering their pocket money, food, transportation, and internet expenses.
Training during the activity
Upon the volunteer's arrival at the airport, they will receive a warm welcome by HUJ. Following this, an introductory meeting will be held at the HUJ office, where the organizational staff will formally greet the volunteers and assist in essential procedures for their stay in Yerevan (obtaining an Armenian phone number, a physical bank card, and arranging a meeting with their assigned mentor). During their mobility in Yerevan, volunteers will engage in two training sessions - an on-arrival and a mid-term training - organized by SALTO in Georgia.
