Youth football program and youth street outreach at Vilnius Social Club

Viešoji įstaiga "Socialinis veiksmas"

Vilnius Social Club

Vilnius, Lithuania

Description

Vilnius Social Club, established in 2013, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to providing educational and social assistance to children and youth, advocating for people's rights, and fostering community involvement to enhance the well-being of young individuals. The organization's mission and vision focus on offering professional social-educational support to children and youth, particularly those who may be overlooked in society. The organisation seeks a volunteer to aid youth through football and street outreach. In football, the volunteer will help kids/youth learn to: arrive on time and stay until the end, work together as a team, manage emotions, reflect on experiences, and deal with both winning and losing. You'll help lead activities, camps, and trips. In street work, you'll build bonds with youth and then invite them to food evenings to cook and socialise. You'll teach life skills and join mobile outreach, engaging youth in all weather (e.g. play games with them).

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

As a volunteer in Vilnius, you will have the opportunity to be hosted in a comfortable flat alongside other like-minded volunteers who share your passion for community service. You will have your own private room, providing a space for rest and relaxation. You will also get: - a monthly bus card; - a monthly stipend for food and pocket money; - a team of dedicated professionals, including a mentor for personal support, a project coordinator to help you get the most out of your experience, and a tutor from the hosting organization to guide you every step of the way.

Training during the activity

Maximize your potential and make the most of your volunteer experience with our comprehensive support system! As a volunteer, you will receive On-Arrival and Mid-Term trainings organized by the National Agency, as well as regular meetings with our dedicated Coordinating Organization. We understand that reflection is key to personal growth, which is why hosting organisation offers regular reflection sessions. These sessions provide a safe and supportive environment to share your experiences, learn from one another, and grow both personally and professionally.

Participant profile

We're looking for a volunteer who is kind, empathetic, reflective and understands how young people feel, someone who can easily build relationships with them. It's important to be okay with changes, rejection and when things don't go as planned. If you enjoy sports, even just a little, that's great (you don’t need to be a professional athlete - just open to participating)! And if you speak any Slavic languages or Lithuanian, that's a big plus, as it will help you connect even better with the young people we work with.
