Comedor Solidario Paris365

FUNDACION GIZAKIA HERRITAR

Fundación Gizakia Herritar

Pamplona, Spain

Description

Volunteers will participate in the project "Comedor Solidario Paris365" where they will work in a community kitchen, supporting the delivery of the daily meal service. The volunteers will help coordinate teams of local volunteers (approx. 80 all together) in the dining room and people completing community service in the kitchen as well as managing service user access. The “Comedor Solidario” is a multicultural environment with people from all over the world. The aim of the project is to combat food insecurity and social isolation within the local area while promoting community participation. Volunteers will also be involved in the “Txoko Paris365”, the cosy, community space of the “Comedor,” welcoming service users and supporting them to use the computers, library and access the social work services. Volunteers will do up to 30 hours of volunteering a week, either in the morning or evening. They will alternate working weekends.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will live in a flat provided by Paris365. It is located on "Calle Mayor", one of the main streets in the Old Town of Pamplona. It is a 5 minute walk from the "Comedor Solidario" as well as the offices of Paris365. There will be a minimal rental fee to cover bills. As for food, volunteers will be able to access food from the "Comedor Solidario". It will cost them 1 euro for both lunch and dinner. No transport arrangements are made for volunteers as the place of work is within walking distance; however, support will be provided to get a bike if volunteers are interested.

Training during the activity

On-site training for the role will be provided upon arrival. Volunteers will also attend training provided by the European Solidarity Corps.
