Description
Work with youth, for youth. Through non-formal education, ACT wants to increase opportunities for personal and professional development for local youth in Craiova, Romania. The projects are carried out in collaboration with local schools and the municipality. They work on ecological awareness, solidarity and social inclusion and active citizenship.
You will participate in one of the working groups with other youth. Together you share responsibility for the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of non-formal activities focused on solidarity, social inclusion and eco-friendly behaviors. You will also get the chance to implement your own ideas, as long as they match with the objectives of the project.
3-4 hours/day with the youngsters and 1-2 hours/day for preparing the activities

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation: the volunteers are hosted in rented apartments in the city of Craiova. Each accommodation assures good living conditions (private beds, equipped kitchen and bathroom, heating system, running cold/ hot water, Wi-Fi). The rooms are shared (2 volunteers per room, separate single beds).
Financial aspects: International travel, local transport, accommodation and utility fees, monthly communication costs, costs related to activities are covered.
Monthly food allowance: 150€/month
Pocket money: 90€/month
Local transport: Covered
Training during the activity
With us, before departure:
- We make sure that you participate in a preparatory training day in the Netherlands (free of charge: we pay for your travel costs for this training).
- If you want, we can also help you write a convincing motivation letter and a good resume in English.
With the hosting organization:
- As a volunteer, you will get mandatory training courses organized by the National Agency of your hosting country (on arrival and mid-term training).
- Depending on the organization, you may also get extra trainings during your project.
Participant profile
You are between 18 and 30 years old // You are available for at least five months (in exceptional cases, shorter placements are also possible; ask for the options available) // You live in the Netherlands or were born there // You have never done another long term ESC volunteering project (more than 2 months) // You are motivated and curious to meet new people and discover another country, another culture // You are interested in non-formal education.
