Description
Sevilla Acoge intervenes in a multicultural environment. The presence of volunteers from other nationalities of ESC is in tune with the objectives of the Foundation, as it provides a intercultural dimension to our proyect. Furthermore: - It is an opportunity to joint work between volunteers Spanish and European. - It strengthens the European dimension of the project to make contact with similar organizations in Europe. - The europeans volunteers will serve as positive referent to young migrants living in Sevilla. - Volunteers have the opportunity to work in Sevilla Acoge, a highly experienced organization as far as intervention among people of different cultures is concerned. Learn to live in a multicultural working environment and meet people from other customs, values, etc. Actions that executes Foundation Sevilla Acoge daily seeks achieve social change: • Welcoming immigrants. • While respecting cultural identity. • By promoting equal rights. • Raising awar.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation will be in a house located in one of Seville´s residential neighbordhoods shared with other european volunteers of Sevilla Acoge (1 of them also working in the Youth Programme and 2 working in the main office). Volunteers will have their own bedroom but kitchen and bathrooms are shared. They will receive 350 euros at the begining of each month to cover the cost of food, housing expenses, transportation and leisure activities. Transportation from the house to the workplace requires taking local transports, but volunteers can also use other means such as bike, scooter etc.
Training during the activity
Volunteer will be able to attend cultural and language classes with one of the association´s teachers once a week (or more, if needed in the beginning) and will also have access to the OLS platform. They will also attend mentoring sessions, team trainings and regional trainings with other ESC volunteers.
Participant profile
As the working language is Spanish, and particularly because the volunteer will be working with young people and different people, it is important for them to have an intermediate level (equivalent to B2) and be able to understand and express themselves decently in the language. They should have interest and/or experience working with children/youth and/or with migrants. Volunteers working here should be communicative, creative, patient explaining things to people, having a ¨can do¨ attitude, with empathy and ability to control their own emotions and not act based on them. They should have interest in immigration services and processes. Finally, they must be motivated to work with children and youth!
