Description
Our project, the MADEIRAN HERITAGE program, is executed through the promotion of several monuments and attractions of Funchal, including the Jesuits' College of Funchal and the Church of St. John the Evangelist. As a volunteer in this program, you will have the opportunity to support the visitor’s knowledge of the valuable material and immaterial heritage of our region through our cultural and historical circuits. In addition, you will help us provide free educational visits to educational establishments throughout the region, as well as free music, exhibitions, cultural tours, audio guides, and other initiatives. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
€6/day for individual support/pocket money for the volunteer and 6.45€/day for food allowance. All travels can be done on foot, as the accommodation and workplace are located within a 15-minute walking distance. The volunteers will be accommodated at the University of Madeira Residence, in double or triple rooms shared exclusively with other volunteers or university students. Each room has its own bathroom, as well as a bed, closets, and desks. There is a common kitchen and living room on each floor of the building, as well as a laundry room and internet access.
Training during the activity
There is an English speaking mentor who is responsible for answering any questions and supervising the work of the volunteer.
Participant profile
A good command of spoken and written English; someone who enjoys learning about history, arts, and culture; who has an interest in heritage and meeting new people; who knows how to work in a team and is available to interact and socialize with people of various ages, from different countries and with different points of view; someone who is a good communicator or willing to develop this skill. !!
