Support and Promote International Volunteering
INTERNATIONALE BEGEGNUNG IN GEMEINSCHAFTSDIENSTEN
STUTTGART, Germany
Description
International work camps and Volunteering teams are unique tools to promote peace, understanding and the European and human values and to directly support local projects. At the same time, volunteers gain a lot from this experience; they return with new ideas, new skills and new friends. To support our international projects in Germany and to promote international work camps and other volunteering projects (IVP) to young people, we are looking for a volunteer for 8 - 12 months. IBG is a German NGO working in the field of international youth exchange and international volunteering. We organise around 30 international work camps and a few other international projects in Germany each year. Through our network ALLIANCE of European Voluntary Service Organisations we have 60 similar partner organisations all over the world. . It is essential for us that our projects answer a local need and that the international groups are well integrated into the local community.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will be based in Stuttgart, accommodation will be provided. As part of the project you will travel from time to time to other places in Germany to promote volunteering or to support projects. Of course this transport will be covered, as the local transport between the accommodation and the office of IBG. For food you will get a daily budget - during trainings and other projects food will be provided.
Training during the activity
Beside of the standard on-arrival-training and mid-term-evaluation for ESC volunteers, IBG offers additional training opportunities like international group leader training or a training on inclusion in workcamps. In addition, the IBG team will provide introductions to different topics and organisational aspects. The aim is that you get to know how IBG (and maybe other German NGOs in a similar field) is structured, where challenges are and how we try to develop our organisation. The kind and volume of these sessions depend on your interest.
Participant profile
We aim to start between 10/2025 and 03/2026. If you are interested, we can arrange a trial period in September/October 2025, during which we can get to know each other and you can learn about our projects. Afterwards, we can decide together whether it is a good fit. We are looking for a volunteer with: + a first-hand experience in international workcamps or international youth exchanges + B-level in English and German + a drivers’ license valid in Germany and willingness to drive + interest and motivation for creating social media content and promoting international volunteering at various events. You can get a better idea of how an ESC experience with IBG looks like by checking the video of our current ESC volunteers: https://youtu.be/b8h0S2QknS0 Your benefits: The project gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how international NGOs work together and what work is required to organise international volunteering projects. You will have many exciting encounters with international volunteers, active members of IBG and citizens of different local communities. A perfect setting to try yourself out, take on responsibility and make your contribution to international understanding and co-operation.
