Kongo Village, Ghana

In the Nabdam district, Upper East Ghana, we are supporting women collectives who make shea butter and the popular bolgatanga baskets. The volunteer who will work with them will be responsible for supporting the women in making their business more visible, helping them to create a process for accepting orders online, helping them to develop quality control measures and bringing a fresh perspective to their products. You will join a team of 3 volunteers working on different topics in the Nabdam District and contribute to Mondo's overall goal of reducing inequalities around the world. The deployment is for 2-4 months

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be hosted at the guest house, with titled lockable rooms, toilet, shower, and ceiling fans. There is running water and electricity and a kitchen with a refrigerator. The guest house is 5 minutes’ walk from the village centre and the ICT centre of KoCDA 7 minutes away. Mobile phone and internet service is reliable. Regular local buses travel to the region's capital, Bolgatanga (30-min drive). There is a market square at Kongo and small kiosks also open daily. The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of 390 euros to cover basic needs and local transport.
