Description

The activity will take place at Park Istra. The organization’s main goals are to promote solidarity and active citizenship and to empower volunteers who visit Park Istra. His mission is to help people in need and to support everything good that is happening in the region : - Sustainable development of the Coastal-Karst region, - Comprehensive development of volunteerism, - Voluntary NGOs and volunteer groups respond daily to the challenges of the local environment and actively participate in the sustainable development of the region. They care for the weakest in society and participate in the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. Volunteers will take part in activities to help people in need, help locals with farming, help people with construction and renovation, organize workshops for kids, help in animal shelters, help local Red Cross and other NGO-s, participate in local cultural events, clean overgrown terraces and paths, organize clean-up actions, etc.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Your accommodation will be in a volunteer center located in the village of Kastelec. On average Park Istra host 15 volunteers from all around the world. They sleep in shared rooms and have access to a communal kitchen, 2 toilets and 2 showers, a communal room,a relaxation room. There is a playground behind the volunteer center and a beautiful nature just next to it. Park Istra provided three vegetarian meals and access to a communal. You will have 20 eur extra per month to buy extra food of your choice. You can travel by bus, train or shared car. Many times, volunteers rent a van together.

Training during the activity

Volunteers live in a community of volunteers from all around the world with different backgrounds. Learning from each other, sharing, taking care for each other, resolving conflicts, compromises – you will practice all this during your stay in Park Istra. If you would like to learn some Slovenian or any other EU language, you can join online language support organised by the EU solidarity corps.

The work is really diverse, so Park Istra is not looking for a specific profiles : you don't need any specific knowledge, just willingness to learn and try new things. The communication is in english, so you should be able to speak at least basic English.
