Description

The volunteer will support communication activities to make information visible for political and social advocacy on the issues prioritised at the headquarters. Priorities will include work on gender-based violence with women and LGBTIQ+ people from a community, decolonial and feminist approach; promoting the articulation of women agricultural producers, healers, teachers, artists, activists, etc. While the work of this office is related to other organisations and collectives in the Andean South, the volunteer will also have the opportunity to participate in the strategic and political strengthening processes of popular women's organisations, communities, feminist collectives and LGBTIQ+ collectives in order to contribute to the intersectional articulation of agendas at the macro-regional level.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Abancay has all the basic services: internet, medical care, markets, good restaurants, discotheques, sports facilities... The volunteer will live in secure accommodation identified by APRODEH with all the basic requirements and will receive a monthly subsistence allowance of 650 € to cover food expenses. The working hours are from 9:00am - 1:00pm and from 3:00pm - 6:00 pm (40 hours per week). The volunteer will participate in the preparation and execution of some activities that involve travel for 2 to 3 days to some provinces of both Cusco and Apurimac.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will improve their professional knowledge through training in humanitarian action, and specific issues on security, gender, psychosocial support and will be provided with training resources to continue their learning. Those selected will receive briefings/training at MdM headquarters in Madrid with the different departments related to the mission and the position, as well as mandatory online training on environmental issues before they start their field work. Training sessions will take place both in the countries of the supporting organisations and in of the host organisations.

Participant profile

- Professional in communication for development - Knowledge of the gender and intersectional approach in their professional activity. - Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies in traditional media, community networks or feminist activism. community networks or feminist activism. - Ideal experience of gender and intersectional approaches. - Fluent in spoken and written Spanish. - Ideally experience in analysing and synthesising information. - Previous experience as a volunteer. - Ability to work in a team - Social sensitivity and empathy. Eligibility : Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
