Description
AFS Vivre Sans Frontière is a French non-for-profit organization and member of the AFS Intercultural Programs network. Its mission is to encourage intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding for a more just and peaceful world. AFS France is looking for 2 volunteers to assist our diverse Intercultural Learning projects. The main task of the volunteers will be organizing and implementing intercultural learning workshops for external partners (mainly schools) on topics related to intercultural education (intercultural communication, stereotypes and generalizations, etc) in cooperation with AFS volunteers. The workshops are generally in French, some can be in English. This comprises different tasks: - Communication around the project and the team's activities - Contact with volunteers and partner schools - Organization and facilitation of the activities and follow-up tasks - General administrative tasks - Taking part and facilitate training sessions for volunteers
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will be based in our national office in the outskirts of Paris (Saint-Maurice) and will travel throughout France to facilitate workshops in different regions. They will be hosted in an individual studio. Food and transportation costs are covered thanks to the ESC funding.
Training during the activity
- Online linguistic support provided by the ESC - Intercultural preparation on an online platform (AFS Foundations of Intercultural Learning and Global Competence) - On-site training about intercultural learning and on how to conduct trainings and workshops (using non formal education methods)
Participant profile
Expected Qualifications -Experience and/or special interest in intercultural learning and active global citizenship education -Comfortable speaking in public and conducting virtual conferences -Microsoft Office skills -Enthusiastic personality and willingness to learn -Previous long or short-term volunteer experience will be valued -Good verbal and written knowledge of French appreciated -Good knowledge of English appreciated -Knowledge of and commitment to the mission and principles of AFS appreciated
