Description
ASPEm and local partners believe in the contribution of volunteers and collective action to create significant change. The volunteer will contribute in two fundamental areas: violence prevention and education, with the aim of preventing various forms of violence (domestic, school, gender, etc.). The volunteer will support these activities in Yachay Chhalaku: Assisting teachers to improve teaching methodology in educational units and communities; Providing information and raising awareness to protect students' rights; Creating tools to strengthen teaching methodology, implementing coexistence plans/rules, and the “anti-violence backpack,” promoting responsible leadership in combating violence in schools; Generating information and training materials to strengthen support and consultancy methodologies. The volunteer will work 35 hours per week in Yachay Chhalaku, with 2 days off per month. Activities will take place on the ground, with local communities, and in the office.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation will be in the northern part of Cochabamba, the safest area with the best access to services (supermarkets, restaurants, hospitals, recreational areas, etc.). It will include electricity, water, gas, internet, common areas (living room and kitchen), and individual rooms with keys. In Cochabamba, there is a wide variety of affordable and healthy food (fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products). Supermarkets offer everything necessary. Public transportation is varied and efficient, with lines passing through the volunteer's workplaces.
Training during the activity
The training will provide volunteer with the necessary skills and competencies. It includes an introduction to the work of ASPEm and Yachay Chhalaku, their strategic lines, projects, and challenges. It will reflect on social needs and community service. The characteristics of the intervention areas and gender violence prevention programs will be analyzed. The volunteer will improve language skills certified by OLS and understand the humanitarian context. Competencies will be certified through Youth Pass.
Participant profile
We are looking for volunteer passionate about education and gender equity, with skills in design, monitoring, and project management. It is essential that they value adaptation and respect for different cultures. Initiative and innovation in violence prevention actions are required, as well as an understanding of gender and masculinity approaches. Additionally, they must have experience in implementing educational strategies that promote equality and respect between genders. Volunteer should be willing to work in local communities and have an interest in social and educational development.
