Description

Join ICYE Nigeria in Makoko Community to address prevalent issues like malaria, respiratory diseases, and malnutrition. Volunteers will collaborate with local actors and Hope for HIV & Aids staff to implement mitigation and adaptation strategies, fostering community resilience. Roles include assisting at a community-based free school, supporting healthcare initiatives in local clinics, engaging in environmental conservation projects, aiding administrative tasks and fundraising, participating in infrastructural projects, and contributing to economic empowerment initiatives. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers in Lagos will stay with host families or in service apartments, enjoying transportation to/from work provided by mentors. Meals will be provided either by host families, workplaces, or through food allowances, ensuring comfort during their stay. Volunteers will receive a monthly pocket money of 200€.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will receive pre-departure training online and on-arrival training in the host country. A knowledgeable mentor will support them daily, ensuring smooth integration into community activities. Mid-term evaluation training will occur after 4-5 months, followed by a final evaluation before departure. A follow-up meeting will take place 2-3 months after returning home.
