AWO Sonnenhaus

AWO Soziale Dienste gGmbH

Bremen, Germany

Description

The Sonnenhaus is an intercultural residential centre with 12 places that emerged from work with unaccompanied refugee minors. To date, the Sonnenhaus is mainly occupied by young refugees (approx. 15-20 years old). In addition to supporting the asylum process, the Sonnenhaus is also responsible for providing everyday support. This includes support with everyday activities such as shopping, cooking, laundry; links to medical/psychological care; support with school attendance; leisure activities; practising regularities, times and rules; reflecting on behaviour in the group; financial planning; developing prospects (including career guidance), etc. The Sonnenhaus is a temporary home where social interaction is also very important. The aim of the work is to achieve independence for the next stages of life (e.g. moving to more independent forms of living).
