Description

The project takes place within the textile sector in Lima and aims to disseminate and promote the circular economy and sustainable development giving technical support and training. The volunteer will collaborate in: identification and contact with textile companies (MSMEs) to include them in the project, visits to their workshops and accompaniment in the study of the business model for circular solutions; organisation of courses and modular training programmes for industry components, MSMEs and recyclers' associations to raise awareness on sustainability and circular economy; training for public agents, private sector social organisations and companies, in particular women, on the principles of the circular economy; technical support for the calculation of the carbon footprint of companies; exchange of experiences of municipalities and dissemination of the experience of the circular economy and sustainability through events and artisan fairs; project monitoring and evaluation.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

ASPEm provides accommodation with single rooms in a residence near its office, located in a well-connected residential area, with access to public transportation to various points in the city. The apartment includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms, internet, and all basic services such as electricity and water. Additionally, there are supermarkets, gyms, and cultural spaces nearby. Regarding food, the area has shops, supermarkets, and restaurants offering affordable menus, including options for vegetarians and vegans.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will receive constant training to understand the socio-cultural and economic context of Lima and Peru and to learn in depth about the key issues of the project, such as circular economy practices and sustainability principles, the role of enterprises, institutions and organisations in the context of the intervention, the long-term objectives of the cooperation programmes. The volunteer will improve language skills (certified by OLS), understanding of the humanitarian context of the ESC initiative and intercultural skills. All competences will be certified through the Youth Pass.

Participant profile

Person with basic experience in project management and knowledge of environmental issues (sustainable development, circular economy). Qualification in the field of environment and sustainability and/or work experience in the sector preferred. Other requirements: resilience in work and social relationships; intercultural skills; observation skills; proactivity; interest in the history of the beneficiary population; ability to work in a team; listening and dialogue skills; attitude to volunteering.
