Description
The objective of the project in which the volunteer will participate is to combat violence against women and students promoting the inclusion of women and students with disabilities in the rural communities and in the educational units. The volunteer will participate in the following activities in collaboration with the local partner Tukuy Pacha: participation in field educational and awareness raising activities to ensure the inclusion of women with disabilities in society and to protect them from discrimination and economic violence; assistance to women in income-generating activities; collaboration with psychologists and experts in inclusive education for the protection of students with disabilities from discrimination and violence in the educational units; support to educational actions to inform and raise awareness on school inclusion. The volunteer will work 35 hours per week with 2 days off per month. Activities will take place on the ground with communities and in the office.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation will be in the northern part of Cochabamba, the safest area with the best access to services (supermarkets, restaurants, hospitals, recreational areas, etc.). It will include electricity, water, gas, internet, common areas (living room and kitchen), and individual rooms with keys. In Cochabamba, there is a wide variety of affordable and healthy food (fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products). Supermarkets offer everything necessary. Public transportation is varied and efficient, with lines passing through the volunteers' workplaces.
Training during the activity
The training aims to improve the volunteer's competences and equip them with skills for the required performance and personal growth. It will include an introduction to the work of ASPEm and Tukuy Pacha (strategic lines, organization chart, projects and modes of action, partnerships) and a focus on cooperation and its challenges as well as the field of humanitarian aid. Inclusive education, disability inclusion and prevention of gender-based violence will also be addressed. The volunteer will receive language support via the OLS platform. All competences will be certified via Youth Pass.
Participant profile
We are looking for a person committed to promoting the inclusion of women with disabilities in rural communities in Cochabamba and knowledge of the CBR strategy (Community Based Rehabilitation). Respect for different cultures and a spirit of initiative in actions to prevent discrimination and violence are essential. They must be able to handle gender and masculinity approaches and be familiar with and implement inclusive educational strategies aimed at women and students. Skills in project design, monitoring and management are an advantage.
