Our project, "ESC VIBE: Volunteering for Inclusion, Belonging, and Empowerment", will take place in Palermo and involve 10 young people aged 18-30. The general objective is to increase young people's awareness of the value of non-formal education as a tool for active participation and social inclusion, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. Specific objectives include: - Enhancing the well-being and educational growth of minors in the Ballarò, Borgo Vecchio, and ZEN neighbourhoods, particularly those facing sociocultural and economic challenges, by involving schools, families, the third sector, and institutions. - Increasing young volunteers' knowledge and skills on gender empowerment, countering violence and stereotypes. - Promoting migrant inclusion through work integration, housing autonomy, and the creation of stable social networks.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You’ll stay in a well-located apartment in Palermo’s historic city centre, near the Central Station. You’ll share the flat with international volunteers, enriching your experience. The apartment is equipped, but please bring bedsheets and towels. Enjoy easy access to both your activities as well as numerous attractions in the historic area. All volunteers receive a monthly allowance for personal expenses and a food contribution.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will take part in the training (on arrival /mid-term evaluation) organised by the Italian National Agency, either in Rome or online.
Participant profile
Our projects target individuals aged 18 to 30, with a special focus on young NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). We aim to help this group reconnect with education or training through mobility and non-formal learning experiences, as well as to bridge their transition into the workforce. Additionally, we support the mobility of young volunteers working with organisations that assist people at risk of social exclusion.
