Description

20 volunteers will be recruited for the project: 10 French volunteers and 10 volunteers from other European countries. The volunteers will be divided into teams of 4 (2 French & 2 Europeans). Each team will work on 2 different topics: “Solidarité Seniors” program, the aim is to take up the challenge ‘ageing well’ of elderly, at home and in care facilities. Volunteers will visit isolated elderly people, organize and set up group outings or events, intervene 1 day a week in a structure (retirement/nursing home etc.) and participate in the evaluation of the impact of their action on the beneficiaries of the project. “European and United” program, the volunteers will set up and develop awareness about Europe and its ideals, and will work within an intercultural team of 20. The volunteers will organize workshops to promote Europe and European volunteering. In addition, the European volunteers will support the French volunteers and help them prepare their own mobility project

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The program covers: travel expenses, accommodation, food (allowance), bus transport, pocket money and health and other insurance. In details: We manage your accommodation at a FJT: Foyer jeunes travailleurs ; it is a Youth residence (young worker’s residence) Each month, you will receive, pocket money and a food allowance. We will cover your travel expenses to and from Angers, and you will have a local transportation bus card and a bicycle

Training during the activity

In addition to the ECS seminars we will offer additional training for volunteers. You will be working with the elderly, we will therefore train you to be able to accompany them and to offer them services/activities. We can also support you on your post-volunteer projects, resuming studies, travel, work...

Participant profile

Motivation to learn or improve your command of French, ability to communicate with different people. Enjoy working on a team. A desire to be in contact with the elderly is essential. The driving license is not required. Due to a short timing we are not able to recruit volunteers that need a visa.
