4- 6 months! If you're creative, would like to support teachers in daily routine, support teens in daily challenges, if you ever thought about testing yourself in work with teens or maybe were eager to learn how special educational systems work in different countries, or simply are looking for a change in your routine, this opportunity is for you! During summer you'll support summer camps for kids (all), and from September - youngsters aged 13 up to 24 years, with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities, receive the support they need to build essential life skills and prepare for work and independent living. As a volunteer, you will play a role in organizing and conducting educational and caring activities for teenagers.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will receive health insurance, monthly pocket money for food, and other expenses (180€+700PLN). Travel costs will be reimbursed depending on the travel distance (based on the UE calculator). Accommodation in a double room, in a three or four-bedroom flat. Student standard, covered bills.

Training during the activity

Before coming to Poland, volunteers have to be prepared for the project by the supporting organization from the volunteer's country. Volunteers participate in the training offered by the Polish National Agency: on-arrival training and mid-term, and Akwedukt's Association inner programme: introduction training, methods of working with kids, monthly meetings and evaluation sessions, skill-oriented meetings, youthpass certification trainings, and any other preparation and trainings needed inside the Hosting Organisations.

Participant profile

You can apply if you are a citizen of an EU country, between 18-30 years old (on the day you start your ESC), can communicate in English, would like to learn Polish during your time in the Special School, are interested in working with kids and youngsters, enjoy being creative, and have a curiosity to explore non-formal education. Active, open, responsible, and ready for daily routine. Previous experience working with people (especially youngsters) with disabilities is a plus, but not a requirement!
