Description

We, at AFS Hungary, are looking for 2 international volunteers to join our Education and School Relations Team for the school year of 2024/2025. With more than 10 years of experience in the field of school relations, we are excited to welcome an enthusiastic changemaker into our team. Through this project, the chosen volunteer will visit Hungarian schools and raise awareness of the importance and advantages of intercultural learning. This will include managing the preparations of the school visits, holding 20-40 school presentations a month for a period of a school year (September to mid-June), creating visual contents for social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook). The volunteer will also represent AFS at various internal events and external exhibitions/fairs and will promote the European Solidarity Corps and volunteering opportunities.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

We offer the following: travel cost to and from Hungary, monthly allowance, accommodation in Budapest, public transportation within the city plus all work related travel costs are covered. We also offer free participation at the orientation camps with the exchange students, continuous personal and professional growth, Hungarian language course, a welcoming community of local volunteers and exchange students and support of AFS staff and an external mentor (buddy).

Training during the activity

The chosen participants will be supported by our staff members at AFS Hungary. A longer orientation training will be provided by an experienced mentor, which will be followed by further training and continuous reflection sessions to support the learning and professional development of our volunteer.

Participant profile

Our ideal candidate has a strong volunteer mindset, is ready to be part of an extended AFS community and act as a changemaker. The ideal candidate also speaks English at a high level (extra language is a plus), has great communication, presentation and marketing (social media) skills and is able to show flexibility and reliability. The candidate has inspiration to learn about and dive into materials with Intercultural Learning (ICL) contents and educate youth about ICL and the UN Sustainable Development Goals by travelling to 20+ regions, meeting host families and engaging with volunteers and exchange students.
