Description
This is a volunteering opportunity in LATVIA, Gulbene, hosted by Youth center “Bāze”. The goal of the project is to bring four different personalities (volunteers) to the small town of Gulbene, Latvia, who are motivated to bring harmony and a little bit of chaos in the ordinary lives of Gulbene inhabitants, to give, to teach, to create more opportunities for the youth and to learn in the process. It is an opportunity for youth around the world to meet and develop friendships, to realise different workshops, introduce another culture and organize educational activities in the youth center. An opportunity to build self-esteem and confidence, enhance work and experience, develop new skills and interests. Make a change in a community and support a cause the volunteer feels strongly about.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer has two travel options: travel in a green way (take a bus, train or drive by car) or take a plane (Destination - RIGA(RIX)). To reach Gulbene from Riga one can travel by bus. Be aware that it will be a long drive (around 3 hours). For late arrival "Bāze" can arrange a pick-up from the airport. The same for traveling back. Accommodation is in two room apartment in Gulbene (or in one of the villages), the project covers all expenses (utilities, food, pocket money, traveling in country that are connected to the activity etc.).
Training during the activity
The volunteer will have a mentor for the whole time of the activity, who will help them understand the competencies of Youthpass and will motivate and help with the overall learning process. Our National Agency provides on-arrival training and mid-term training for long term volunteers. And, of course, our organization provides a learning opportunity to achieve skills and knowledge of a youth worker, supports language learning and allows the volunteer achieve their personal learning goals.
Participant profile
Our organization will be happy give this opportunity to anyone who wants to learn something about youth work. Someone who loves to spend time with youngsters and kids, learn how to prepare activities and implement them in youth center's daily work. Someone, who would like to share with youth their best qualities and individual skills, improving them in the process.
