Description
ADRA Zambia, a faith-based non-governmental humanitarian organization, reaches over 20,000 people each year with various activities in health, education, agriculture, and economic empowerment. This is archived through empowerment initiatives, capacity building of communities to enable people to be self-reliant in a sustainable way. We are searching for a Grant writer. You will work closely with the business development unit, where searching and grant writing is coordinated. You shall be involved in training on various approaches and methodologies that ADRA uses to align its proposals and donor interests. Topics on Country Strategies appreciation, Donor interests, effective grant writing and networking shall be provided to you alongside the team. You will be located at ADRA HQ in Lusaka with countryside travels once a month for field work in Southern, Eastern, Central, Western and Lusaka provinces.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
ADRA will provide decent, furnished, and secure accommodation for you in Lusaka city. Zambians are friendly, welcoming people, and speak English and Chinyanja. A monthly sum of approx 420€ will be provided for your upkeep (meals and local transportation). You can make your own meals or use the various kinds of restaurants. Transport is by road using commuter taxis and easy access to several shopping malls. You will share transport with the ADRA team while doing your duties and if a field visit is necessary and accommodation will be provided. Health insurance will be covered by Henner.
Training during the activity
You will attend online pre-departure training to prepare, as well as on-arrival training which will introduce you to the host country teams. You will receive basic e-learning course on grant searching, writing and induction in Zambia upon arrival. This project will make use of Youthpass, for identifying, documenting, and validating gained learning outcomes. During the placement, you will have several learning opportunities depending on your own motivation and learning and development needs such as value-based approach, rights-based approach and needs assessments.
Participant profile
We are looking for somebody with an interest in conducting research and grant writing, preferably in a humanitarian and development context; knowledge to effectively search for donors and funding opportunities; desire to work with business development team in searching and grant writing for encouragement of youth and women groups; ability to share your expertise in grants searching and writing with people of diverse backgrounds and different degrees of knowledge in the area.
