Description

End FGM European Network (End FGM EU) is looking for 1 volunteer to join the Communications Department of the Network to highlight and promote the work of community members in ending female genital mutilation (FGM) and supporting survivors. TASKS + RESPONSIBILITIES Mapping communities engaged in combatting FGM Supporting the organisation of interviews of community-based activists; Assisting with the online promotion of the work of community-based organisations against FGM based in Europe; Supporting the online presence of End FGM EU; Contributing to the production and publication of content for the Network’s social media accounts; Assisting with the communication side of the Youth Ambassadors and Ambassadors programmes; Supporting with the creation and dissemination of the quarterly newsletter and the Network's communication strategy; Preparing specific communications actions for events and campaigns Support the sending of updates and information.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

A monthly allowance (food, housing). Travel costs to Brussels (a lump sum depending on the distance to Brussels). Monthly pocket money. Local transportation costs in Brussels.

Training during the activity

On-arrival training with other Solidarity Corps volunteers, plus additional learning and development opportunities with our members. Internal awareness raising training on FGM provided by End FGM EU.

Participant profile

Young volunteer between 18-30 years old, living in Europe and originating from an FGM-affected community. Good English language skills, both oral and written, French is an asset. Knowledge of, or interest in, gender equality and gender-based violence issues. Willingness to engage in productive and challenging work. Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines. Understanding of debates on FGM, violence against women and gender issues
