Description

The coordinating organization is looking for six motivated volunteers to work in one of the three Kindergärten located in Milicz. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to gain experience working with children and teaching methods used in schools and Kindergärten. You will develop presentation, management, and marketing skills through event planning. You will also strengthen your entertainment skills by preparing and leading workshops and courses. This volunteering experience will help you boost your language skills by improving your English, learning Polish, and teaching your mother tongue. You will have the opportunity to create a portfolio of workshops that you can use after the project, while gaining knowledge of non-formal education methods. The volunteering will take place in an intercultural environment and will include participation in various trainings and workshops.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will be accommodated in a shared apartment together with other international volunteers. You will share room with another volunteer. The flat is equipped with everything you need. The flats are in a walking distance to your workplace. Additionally, you will receive a monthly allowance as pocket money and food money (in total around 258 euro/month). Milicz is a small town, they don't have any local transport, so the coordinating organization provide you with bicycles. The travel from Italy to Poland and back is fully reimbursed. An insurance company will protect you from any risk.

Training during the activity

You'll attend 3 official training sessions: a pre-departure one before leaving Italy, an on arrival one a few weeks after your advent in Poland and a third one at around half of your volunteering. After arriving, you will have support of kindergarten staff to be introduced into the activities. In addition, you will have a mentor to discuss your thoughts and emotions. You’ll be also provided with a Polish course.

Participant profile

As an ideal volunteer, you should be motivated and dedicated to your job, demonstrating a strong command of communicative English. You are proactive and embody essential qualities such as open-mindedness, responsibility, and a good sense of humor. For this specific project, given its educational nature, you should feel comfortable working with children, as well as teaching them using non-formal methods. Remember that Milizc is a village and you have to love living in a small place, which is 1 hour apart from the big city of Wrocław.
