9 months Permaculture and Regenerative Agriculture at Finca Luna

Asociación Gaia Tasiri
Garafia, Spain
Description
To fully apply and be considered as a candidate, please read all the information on our webpage and fill out the application form you will find on fincaluna.org The program offers permaculture education, practical ecological farm work, multicultural volunteer community experience, all with a focus on learning by doing. You will share this experience in a group of 6 volunteers from different countries, included from Spain. Our small farm of 6000m2 is located in the northwest of the island of La Palma, Canary Island. This 9 months experience is perfect for a solid introduction to the principles of permaculture design, the practice of regenerative agriculture, and to the work and life in an ecological farm. We work 7 hours daily ranging from routine farm work (garden, forest, animals, plant nursery), group projects, workshops, and community work in other farms.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers are hosted in our farm, in shared bedrooms. Most of the year, external facilities are used (solar shower, compost toilet). Comfort is basic as we mostly live outside during the year. In winter, rain is frequent and temperature can go down to 3 degrees celsius by night (it can be cold inside too because of humidity). Up to 45 degrees in summer. Food is covered partially by farm produces and our own warehouse. Meals are cooked and shared among volunteers. There is one family living permanently on the farm, they are your hosts and coordinators.
Training during the activity
The aim of our project is to train you so that you can become a social and environmental changemaker, improve your awareness of the natural environment, become proactive actor of your personal and professional life, and to become leader in your community. We focus on learning by doing, where mistakes are part of the process. Our goal is that you enhance your confidence and autonomy in conducting ecological farm tasks. Volunteers are trained through workshops (permaculture design, composting, microorganisms development, etc.) offered by the coordinators as well as by fellow volunteers.
