Set Course for Solidarity
STICHTING SAIL TRAINING ASSOCIATION NETHERLANDS (NEDERLANDSE AFDELING VAN SAIL TRAINING INTERNATIONAL S.T.I.)
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Description
We organise Youth Exchanges with sustainable themes on large sailing ships. Our work includes general tasks at the office, related to the preparation of these projects. We are looking for young people (close to our participants' age) to help us with the tasks such as: applying for funds, recruiting participants, finding new international partners, helping with programs and logistic preparations, finding new ways to promote the projects, creating graphic and video content, being a point of contact for the participants, as well as some administrative tasks. During the summer we are present at maritime festivals. We will aim to give you an experience sailing on a Tall Ship as an Exchange mentor, but we can't guarantee it. You will definitely get a lot of office experience related to implementing international youth projects. This is an office-based project, but we are all passionate about sailing and non-formal education.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will live near the centre of Amsterdam, with 4 other volunteers and/or local students. The office is located at the same place. You will have your own small room and share the living space. Everything you need is nearby: grocery stores, street market, gyms, cafes, etc. You will be provided with a bicycle for the duration of your stay, which will give you an easy access to most parts of Amsterdam.
Training during the activity
On-arrival and mid-term trainings offered by the national ESC agency; coaching sessions with project leader; daily guidance by the manager at work. Optionally: "Dinghy" - fundraising and personal development training; training/preparation to become a mentor for Exchange participants (if applicable); Sail Training on board certified sail training vessels (if applicable).
Participant profile
Motivation is the most important part! Tell us about yourself and your goals, and how do you see participating in this specific project will benefit you personally or professionally. We are a small team of sailing enthusiasts but our daily work is done at an office and doesn’t include sailing. We would love to hear from people who want to gain experience in managing international youth projects or marketing, and are curious about non-formal education or sailing. And if you like video editing then we could certainly give you lots of fun and challenging projects! We will only consider applications with project-specific motivation statements.
