Climate Change Adaptation Capacity Building Advisor in Ghana

NGO MONDO
GHANA DEVELOPING COMMUNITIES ASSOCIATION LBG
Tamale, Ghana
Description
Mondo in Estonia is sending a volunteer to Northern Ghana which faces challenges due to reliance on rain-fed farming and poverty. Climate change worsens conditions with erratic rainfall, droughts, rising temperatures, and flooding, impacting agriculture, water security, livelihoods, and employment. Rural communities must adopt short-term adaptation strategies and build long-term resilience. Key activities are as follows: • Conducting climate vulnerability analyses and developing intervention options. • Building capacity to implement strategies, including: • Energy saving. • Reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle. • Food management. • Income diversification. • Sustainable farming with organic inputs. • Facilitating networking and stakeholder engagement in climate action.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
GDCA will arrange accommodation close to the office, typically a one- or two-bedroom self-contained flat with soft furnishings for comfort. Utilities, including water, electricity, Internet, and satellite TV, will be included. The flat will have basic kitchen facilities for meal preparation. Alternatively, participants can purchase meals from restaurants or food vendors, though caution is advised with vendors. GDCA will provide transport for official duties. Local taxis and tricycles are available. Foreigners may drive with an international license.
Training during the activity
This opportunity is part of the BRIDGE project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development and Gender Equality), in which volunteers will have the chance to work on a common objective: empowerment and skills development of vulnerable communities, with a focus on women groups and enhance digital skills, participate in UN Women Summits and animating digital workshops.
