Associazione ALA - APS was born in 2009. It works to develop educational frameworks and share environmental knowledge for children, youth and adults. The methodology of the association aims to use different educational approaches such as non-formal education, art and creativity as well as outdoor practices to empower youth and rural communities. The goals of the association is to promote social inclusion, active citizenship, intercultural learning, respect and protection of the environment. The mission is to support the creation of the future citizens' awareness, critical thinking, improving their ability to express their thoughts and needs, to make them exchange opinions and improve the knowledge of a respectful relation to environmental resources. The association works on both a national and a international level and collaborates with different public institutions and NGOct description.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will be giving monthly pocket and food money (320 € for month), to self manage food and everyday expenses. The housing charge will be fully covered by the hosting organization. The volunteers will be located in a shared apartment or house in Poggio Catino, a small mountain village, alongside other volunteers of the project. The project up to a max cost of 350€. The travel tickets will be booked by the volunteer themself and refunded by the coordinating organization.
Training during the activity
The first few days of your volunteering will be devoted to getting to know our workplaces (refuge, ostello, library, etc.) and visiting the main villages in the surrounding area for a better immersion. About 2 months after you start volunteering, a training session will take place.
Participant profile
We are looking for volunteers that are willing to interact and be active in working with the local volunteers and youth of the area, are open minded, are interested and open to propose workshops or other activities to support the goals of the association. All the activities are managed to support the volunteer to gain self confidence, autonomy and with time shape the project to achieve his/her personal learning goals. The project will host 4 volunteers from European countries. We aim to create a dynamic group composed of different competences and skills, gender, personal attitude and nationality. The selection process will be based on motivation, a questionnaire and the personal meeting, done online between the candidate and the association, after receiving a CV and the motivation letter. This experience offers a long term project, and thereby a longer process of learning, experimenting, taking action, stretching the comfort zone, learning to live in a intercultural environment, engaging with the local community, being flexible and adaptable.
