Description

The missions that we will entrust to our volunteer concern the youth service and the animation service of the city. It will be guided and followed by his referent; the volonteer will find all the support he needs to his functions with the animation team. Activities will be progressive and depend on the ease and the desire of the volunteer small community of Elliant (Brittany) Youth centre - Participation in the activities on wednesdays and school holidays at the youth centre with children aged 3 to 12 years old (creatives activities, science activities, sports, etc...). During the summer holidays the volonteer will take part in activities and developpe himself/herself activities (for example about his/her country). With the teeanagers (12 - 17 years), the volonteer could take part of the project. With other local partnersr (associations, school, library,...) the volonteer will participate in ponctual events around his culture/country. Participation to meeting about ESC.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volonteer will be lodged in a council flat situated in Elliant. He will have a bedroom, kitchen and a common sitting room. An agreement regarding the flat rules with be signed by both representative of the council and the the volonteer. The midday meal will be taken in the school restaurant. In the evenings and at the weekends, the volonteer will be self catering. The volonteer will receive 10€/day for food for weekends and days off and 6€/day for the rest of the week. If the volonteer has a driving license, it will be possible to use a council car for outings.

Training during the activity

The volonteer will participate to the BAFA training course [specific training to work with children and propose yout activities]. He could obtain a french Youth Leader's diplom.

Participant profile

The most important criteria are the volonteer's motivation and desire to participate fully in this project in a small rural community, and also to be able to work and empathise with children ages 3 to 12 years old and teenagers. The volonteer needs to have an ability to communicate and his own expierience, coupled with a desire to discover a new culture.
