Embracing Diversity: Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges - Youth Center (only EU citizens)

Maison d'Accueil du PAys de Redon
redon, France
Description
The volunteering mission aims to promote cultural diversity, inclusion, and the fight against racism and prejudice within the municipal youth center. It involves working with various groups, including children, teenagers, and young adults, through a wide range of educational, recreational, and cultural activities. These activities are designed to create an inclusive and respectful environment where young people can explore and appreciate different cultures. The volunteer will assist with homework and creative projects after school, organize cultural workshops, and participate in leisure activities at youth centers. They will act as a mediator, supporting young people in their personal and collective projects and encouraging them to embrace diversity and build meaningful connections. The volunteer will get a monthly allowance for food in addition to pocket money.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will have the support of the staff of Childhood and Youth Service and of his/her mentor into the organization. The volunteer will have the support of the European coordinator in Mapar (the coordinating organization), who will support him during all his/her stay. The volunteer will benefit from 2 hours of French classes every week + 1 weekly hour of collective mentoring.
Participant profile
Volunteers must be sensitive to issues of diversity, inclusion and the fight against discrimination. They should have strong listening, mediation and dialogue skills, as well as a willingness to get involved in collective projects that promote intercultural encounters and social mixing. Experience in running activities or providing educational support is desirable, but not essential. Due to the large number of applications submitted without any real interest in the mission, we would like to thank in advance those candidates who are really motivated to send their application both on the Youth portal and by e-mail with a covering letter, a CV and an accompanying e-mail. See you soon!
