Supported Living Groups Friedrich-Paffrath-Straße – Wohnverbund: volunteers wanted
Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband Niedersachsen e.V.
Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft für Paritätische Sozialarbeit mbH
Wilhelmshaven, Germany
Description
The Supported Living Groups provide living spaces for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. At night there is an on-call service available. Professionals are present during the day to support residents in care, daily and leisure activities, administrative tasks, and medical appointments. During the day, the residents work at our manufactories. For retired residents, there is the possibility to visit a day care center. The tasks of the volunteers can subdivided in three areas: support, household and care. Nursing tasks are almost non-existent, as the residents are still very independent. You accompany professionals in daily activities and individual support measures, supporting residents in acquiring or maintaining competences. You motivate residents to participate in activities, therapeutic offerings, and events. You are welcome to bring in your own ideas and contribute to summer activities or festivals, participate in excursions and recreational trips.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
There will be a group of seven international volunteers to spend a year at the GPS. You will live in one of three shared flats. A German volunteer will be your companion to show you ways how to spend your free time in and around Wilhelmshaven: cultural events, theatre, museums, the beach or whatever you are interested in. Together you‘ll receive tickets for public transportation to explore the region and nearby cities like Bremen or Hamburg. We will pay you a monthly allowance of 217€ and a food allowance of 313€, show you nearby supermarkets and important places to go upon arrival.
Training during the activity
