WE ARE A YOUTH CENTER focusing on OUTDOOR EDUCATION, international youth work, camp schools and family camps. We invite you to join us for 6 months. During this time you get a good understanding to the youth work we are doing as Metsäkartano. You get to have a meaningful work supporting the life of our local youth. You will understand youth work and non-profit work better. You will learn about international activities of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps. We are looking for a MOTIVATED volunteer to join our team of youth workers and other staff members for a FULL 6 MONTHS. A possible starting date could be 27th of January or a bit later. Volunteer must be available for the whole 6 months. We prioritize volunteers who can start 27th of January. We are looking for someone who is ready to live in a beautiful nature in a remote location in North East of Finland for the whole 6 months. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation is organised in a shared apartment. Food is provided for the whole duration of the volunteering from Metsäkartano restaurant / kitchen (either ready meals or ingredients for cooking). Ready meals are often available in our restaurant buffet table as our groups eat there anyway and volunteers can also eat there. There is no public transportation but other staff members will sometimes offer a ride to nearby places when they go themselves (to work, from work, visits in the villages nearby, etc).
Training during the activity
Volunteer will get a personal mentor for the working time, volunteer will meet the work mentor in weekly meetings to organise the shedule. Volunteer will attend an on-arrival training in another city in Finland to meet other volunteers around Finland. Volunteer will need to work on learning goals and reflect the learning in monthly meetings. Volunteer will be introduced to staff members and interns of Metsäkartano to get friends on free time. But there is not a lot of people around though, it's good volunteer has quiet hobbies and is very active themselves getting to know people.
Participant profile
Someone motivated to learn about themselves living near nature. Someone motivated to learn about youth work and leading groups, organising events and helping a non-profit education institute. Someone who is not at the moment in work or school (someone who is currently unemployed or in between two jobs or recently graduated, etc.). Someone whose values fit to the general values of ESC.
