Plateforme de Solidarité Internationale
Perpignan, France
Description
Plateforme Solidarité Internationale is a non-profit organisation and NGO based in Perpignan since 2019. It serves as an information and training centre for volunteering, mobility, and international solidarity. PSI aims to develop international and local solidarity projects, provide support for promoters of decentralized cooperation, and offer information, support, and training on various mobility opportunities in France, Europe, and beyond, particularly for young people. PSI also facilitates the hosting, sending, and support of volunteers on solidarity missions. Linked to the organisation is Espace Sängö, a solidarity market offering organic products in partnership with “Artisans du Monde" where also takes place most of the cultural activitities and workshops about sustenability, interculturality and democratic partecipation. This initiative supports vulnerable youth and artists while fostering connections across cultures, interests, and needs in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
PSI covers transportation costs, including two tickets: one from the volunteer’s home country to France at the start of the project and one back home at the end. A bus pass for daily commutes to work is also provided. Volunteers are housed in a private room within a shared apartment or house, with shared common areas (kitchen, living room, bathroom). Accommodation is located in or near the city center of Perpignan. PSI provides a monthly allowance for food (€7/day) and pocket money (€8,5/day), health insurance (Henner), access to a language platform, and specific seminars and training.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will receive dedicated support from their tutor, administrative staff, and team members. All materials needed for their activities will be provided. Upon arrival, the volunteer will be welcomed by their tutor and mentor, who will dedicate time to their orientation and integration into the city. A full week will be set aside to help with settling into the accommodation, exploring the city, initial shopping, learning bus routes, and more. If possible, the association will also provide additional language support.
Participant profile
We can offer three main actvities for our future partecipant: 1. Animation and workshops: We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual to support activities at Espace Sango and with partner associations. These include cooking workshops, music and cultural events, language cafés, and information sessions on European mobility. The volunteer will also be encouraged to propose and lead their own activities, playing an active role in choosing the tasks they wish to undertake. 2. Project Writing: Given the growing interest in European project design, we aim to develop a small "solidarity project" in collaboration with the future CES volunteer and other young people frequenting our space. This will be a great opportunity to learn how to write small projects, collaborate with others, and deepen knowledge of the local area. 3. Communication, Social media and digital : We want to provide space for the volunteer to develop their personals skills in IT, graphic, social media and Data and communication in general! Additionally: - Some activities will focus on animation, so we are looking for someone enthusiastic and ready to bring positive energy to our dynamic team. - A good level of French is not required, but motivation to learn the language is essential! We guarantee plenty of opportunities to improve French skills during the year with us! - Volunteers will be selected based on their motivation for the project, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, political views, disability, or language skills. We will adapt to their needs and work together to find appropriate solutions if necessary.
