Description

The Caretta Caretta monitoring and protection project is a team volunteering ESC project in Antalya, Demre. Türkiye. The volunteers' main tasks will be the protection of Caretta Carettas during their nesting and hatchling season. Other activities may include: - observing the coastline - protecting the area from possible threats - marking potential nests - nature preservation, cleaning the beach - organizing campaigns to raise awareness of the nesting process and the importance of sea turtles in our ecosystem - organizing workshops, and events for locals - carrying sea turtles that are in need of treatment - active involvement in project dissemination from the volunteers (videos, photos, social media...)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation is in Demre, ANTALYA. Modern apartment with 4 flats; each flat has 2 rooms (2 volunteers per room), a bathroom, and an American-style kitchen. Apartments are equipped with fundamental facilities (such as; air conditioners, washing machines, dishwashers, WI-FI, etc.) Volunteers will receive food allowance & make their own food. There is no public transportation in Demre. We have our own Caretta Bus that will bring the volunteers to work and back home every day. The city center is 45-60 minutes by foot from the accommodation. It’s an hour 25 minutes walk to the nearest beach.

Training during the activity

TYPICAL WORKING DAY from 4 am to 9 am - morning session during the day - the volunteers have free time to explore or initiate their projects (such as learning a new language or a skill) from 6 pm to 8 pm - evening session Volunteers will have 2 days off and 5 work days in a week and an additional 2 off days at the end of each month. We welcome individuals who: Are enthusiastic about wildlife conservation and sustainability. Appreciate teamwork, cultural exchange, and collaboration with people from diverse backgrounds. No specific qualifications or prior experience are required—just a genuine passion for protecting the environment and a willingness to contribute.
