The volunteer will gain insights into student activism, advocacy, educational policy, and European Institutions, while empowering student unions and fostering European identities. They will contribute to OBESSU's work, support policy and communication efforts, engage with student activists, and focus on key topics like school democracy, climate, and digital education. OBESSU will provide a tailored learning experience to develop both professional and personal skills.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The participant will receive a monthly subsidy of up to 1180 EUR for accommodation, travel, food, and pocket money. OBESSU will assist in finding accommodation in Brussels. Travel costs to and from Brussels will be covered up to 309 EUR, according to the Erasmus+ distance calculator. Health insurance is included, but the volunteer must have a European Health Insurance Card. The volunteer will also have access to language classes via an online learning platform during the volunteering period.
Training during the activity
OBESSU will closely cooperate with the selected volunteer in defining the interest of work and facilitate the development of the volunteer, both professionally and personally, to ensure the most valuable learning experience. Together with the volunteer, OBESSU will develop the working programme for the year, and will provide support to the volunteer in defining their learning goals and further achieving the same.
Participant profile
- Young person between the ages of 18 - 30; - Interested in living in and experiencing a highly international context; - Interested in working with and for young people and more precisely school students; - Motivated and creative individual interested in school student organizing and youth participation; - An individual willing to develop sector-specific skills and competences (with specific emphasis on membership, outreach and policy); - Willing to adapt to different situations and develop their own initiatives and projects (with the support of the rest of the office); - An individual with a high level of self-initiative and interest in taking up tasks and learning new things; - Interested in the work of OBESSU and the member organisations; - Good command of English and willing to develop their language skills; - Priority will be given to young people coming from disadvantaged backgrounds.
