Description

The aim of the project is to increase the social well-being of the community by helping people with social difficulties, especially children, through daily support activities and promoting youth participation and social inclusion. The main tasks for this position are: • Participate in local and regional active citizenship and youth participation initiatives: Magnifico Consiglio dei Ragazzi (MCR), Consulta Regionale dei Giovani, others with partner associations, local administrations and schools Plan and participate in afternoon school support (homework, tutoring) and organize recreational activities (games, music, sports, theatre, pet therapy and so on) at local neighbourhood houses. • Design and deliver cultural, creative activities, language workshops and events • Accompany and support children (6-13), including those with learning difficulties and fragile family situations • Provide educational support, create an inclusive and stimulating environment, promote per

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Travel to Italy and back, accommodation, local transports and food expenses are covered by the project. Local transfers will be mainly within walkable distance, local urban services are available if necessary. The volunteers will stay in an apartment not far from the activities site, single and shared bedrooms are available, with shared bathroom. Kitchen and living room are common area.

Training during the activity

At the arrival there will be an appointed tutor and mentor who will welcome and support the volunteers, discuss personal competences, interests, needs, characteristics and together they will define the mission. Further support will be provided if necessary during all the project period. Depending on the specific activity the appropriate tools and knowledge will be shared and provided. A language course is available through the OLS tool. An intensive Italian language support course is mandatory for the first weeks of stay for those volunteers not speaking any Italian.

Participant profile

The volunteer is required to be predisposed to interpersonal relations, have an open-minded approach and willingness to learn. There are no specific qualification or degree requirements but the intention to operate within the social sector and to support children and young people in all extra-curricular activities. At Least a Basic level of Italian is a requirement and motivation to improve the Italian language is important, in order to execute the different volunteering tasks and to collaborate with the other members of the team. Knowledge of English is required. The candidate should be open to support the organization in other tasks which can be proposed by tutor and mentor during the period.
