Description

‘Solidarity Gardens - Empowering Communities for Sustainable Futures’ strives to empower rural youth and communities affected by forest fires with the adequate learning achievement on regeneration of green spaces. The project aims to address climate and environmental challenges while fostering positive learning experiences and outcomes related to environmental sustainability and social inclusion through the establishment of community gardens.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The host organisation will offer monthly pocket money and food allowances, and their travel will be covered in line with the applicable rules and regulations of European Solidarity Corps 2024 guide. The volunteers will stay at Pazo de Illobre, which is a 20-minute walk from the Betanzos town center. They will co-house with other ESC volunteers from Morocco, Spain, Türkiye and Portugal. The activities will primarily take place at Pazo de Illobre. Free access to local transportation will be provided to facilitate participation in off-site activities, if applicable.

Training during the activity

The volunteers will receive on-the-job training from the foundation team regarding to the activities and mobility. The volunteers have the right and obligation to attend following TEC trainings: - pre-departure training for participants by supporting organisations, - on-arrival training (volunteering activities of at least 2 months) by Spanish National Agency, - mid-term evaluation (only volunteering activities of 6 months and longer) by Spanish National Agency.

Participant profile

- Is ready to work in hands-on gardening activities. - Is positive and proactive, motivated to inspire others and promote environmental sustainability. - Is adaptable and flexible, willing to adjust plans based on weather conditions and community needs. - Is able to work as part of a team, collaborating effectively with others to enhance the gardening experience. - Demonstrated enthusiasm for cultural heritage, coupled with a genuine commitment to its preservation and promotion. - Proficiency in managing social media platforms, with the ability to foster online community engagement. - Competence in graphic design, enabling the creation of visually compelling materials to support our initiatives. - Prior experience in non-formal education, cultural heritage, or related fields is advantageous. - Basic proficiency in Spanish (not obligatory)
