Volunteering Teams - Solidarity Meets Sustainability

NaturKultur Bremen e. V.

Garlstedt, Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Germany

Description

Would you like to have the opportunity to have a positive impact on a local community in Germany, and learn how you can make an impact in your own community? Have you ever wanted to learn practical skills which can help you lead a sustainable lifestyle? If yes, then this volunteering teams project could be perfect for you! In this activity you would have the opportunity to volunteer in multiple environments, and hence develop a variety of new skills. The activities will be split across a community farm in Bremen that offers environment education to children, a group house for international exchange projects in Garlstedt, and in the village surrounding this group house. Most of the activities will have a connection to sustainability. For example, you will be able to learn about composting, and how to build raised beds. On top of this, by helping the local village with tasks they don't usually have the person power for, you will also get to do actions with a focus on community impact.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will be accommodated in KulturHaus. The accommodation will be simple. Participants will be sharing rooms with 2-3 people from same gender but different nationalities. Some of the rooms are with private and some with shared bathrooms. The venue will be stocked with food which the participants can cook themselves, using the venue's professional kitchen. As a participant you will also be provided with transport tickets which can be used to explore the local areas on your days off, and to travel to Bremen when we will be working there.

Participant profile

You can apply, if you… … are between 18-30 years old (on the day you start your ESC) … are interested in gardening, hands-on work, and love both teamwork and doing your own thing … love to be creative and are passionate about making a positive change in society … have patience and care about helping other people grow … are an open-minded person, motivated to work in a team and with people from different religious, cultural and social backgrounds. Fluency in English is not a necessity, you just need to be motivated to try and communicate with people from other cultures, in a language which isn’t your mother tongue.
