Volunteering in a non-profit organisation that is focused on meditation and consciousness
Stichting MERU/MVU
VLODROP, Netherlands
Description
MERU (Maharishi European Research University) is a campus in The Netherlands offering courses, retreats and events to the global Transcendental Meditation community. Our mission is to bring the timeless knowledge of consciousness and its applications to all – for a healthy, vibrant, and peaceful society. By participating in our volunteer program you are contributing to our community of around 200 people working at our campus in the heart of the beautiful Dutch National Park De Meinweg. Volunteers take part in different work activities in dining services, housing, garden and other areas. As part of the activity, you will learn Transcendental Meditation from a certified teacher in a four-day course. It's an easy and effortless technique that we all practice at MERU, twice a day for 20 minutes. It brings profound benefits for mind and body and it's a very effective tool to develop your own full inner and outer potential.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
MERU offers accommodation that includes your own room in a shared house, usually with one or two other volunteers. The houses are comfortable and include (shared) bathroom, toilet, kitchen and often a living room too. Daily transport from and to MERU is arranged for our volunteers. On campus freshly prepared organic vegetarian meals are served at lunch and dinner time. But volunteers also get access to a variety of organic food products from the campus store to cook at home, if they like. Both the meals on campus and the products from the store are free of charge.
Training during the activity
MERU organises various programs for volunteers to deepen their knowledge and integrate the experience of meditation into their daily life. Besides this, volunteers are encouraged to learn new skills in all kinds of areas (work, social, language, etcetera). For this, a mentor will be assigned to the volunteer to provide guidance regarding self directed learning, but also to check the general well-being of the volunteer.
