I LIVE: INCLUSIVE LEARNING IN VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCES

Fundación Plan B Educación Social

Salamanca, Spain

Description

The iLIVE project provides learning opportunities for young people with disabilities through sports volunteering. It brings together European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers in international teams for short-term initiatives, fostering inclusive learning experiences and encouraging participation in both mainstream and disability-focused sports. iLIVE! also aims to expand inclusive volunteering by engaging more sports clubs and associations at the grassroots level. Volunteers will design campaigns to attract both young people with disabilities and new sports organisations to participate, promoting personal and professional growth. Key activities include organising volunteer taster sessions in various sports club roles such as hospitality, event management, bookkeeping, fundraising, facility maintenance, communications, and coaching. The project seeks 7 local and 5 international volunteers to promote multiculturalism, solidarity, and cultural understanding.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will stay in a big house, with stairs, in a neighbourhood of the city of Salamanca where there is a bus stop with direct connection to the city centre, supermarkets and shops. The house has 9 shared rooms for volunteers and spacious common areas for shared activities and all the necessary equipment: WiFi, TV room, laundry room and kitchen, so they can prepare their own meals. Participants will be provided with food budget and a daily pocket money of €6 to manage on themselves and they will also be provided with bus card.

Training during the activity

Participants will attend a pre-departure meeting to receive key information and preparations. Over three weeks (21 days), they will receive training and expert support to enhance their volunteering experience with knowledge, practice, and purpose. In the final days, a "Future Opportunities" session will guide volunteers in their professional and personal growth, encouraging further volunteering, training, and career development. A mentor will provide support, and the international community will contribute to their development.

Participant profile

We are searching for 12 volunteers interested in inclusion, including volunteers with disabilities (7 locals and 5 internationals) who can collaborate in a team. Previous work experience and qualifications may be useful but not necessary. We are looking for proactive, motivated, empathic, creative people with good communication skills. YOU SHOULD be interested in contributing in a voluntary field and have interests in sports and community building. The project is also open to fewer opportunities profiles (Read more: https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/programme-guide/part-a/priorities-of-the-erasmus-programme). Candidates must be 18 to 30 years old and reside in one of the eligible countries. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
