verquer. - global justice project, Northern Germany

Description

verquer. is a non-formal education project in Greifswald. We offer single or multiple day projects for schools, youth centres or other groups on topics about global justice and social transformation. Another project is „VeRa“, a monthly podcast that also deals with topics of global justice. Furthermore, we have regular afternoon activities for children in a local youth centre and organize a summer camp for (migrant and refugee) kids. It is our aim to bring the topics we care about closer to children, young adults, as well as their teachers and parents. Our methods and approaches are easily accessible and playful so that they are not overwhelming, but educational and thought-provoking. Together with the kids, we look for everyday solutions and inspire them to reflect about the global consequences of local actions. We also train local volunteers in our methods to become multipliers of our ideas and lead the project days.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Your accommodation in Greifswald will be in a shared flat with 2 other volunteers, but you will have your own room. The flatmates are one man and one woman. A ticket for local transport will be provided, but truthfully everyone takes the bike in Greifswald :-) Your food and pocket money will be paid in full, and you are responsible for your own food arrangements.

Training during the activity

Participate at our multiplicator’s training and learn more about our topics, methods, and how to lead a project day. Join the VeRa radio team and learn more about our favorite medium. Get insights into the accounting and funding of non-formal education. Or whatever else you come up with! We are more than happy to hear your creative ideas and support you with your own ideas. In addition, you will join seminars to network with other volunteers in the region of Greifswald/Vorpommern organized by the project www.turbina-pomerania.org/en. You have the opportunity to study German, too.

Participant profile

We are open to applications from everyone. All you need to bring is true interest in our field of work and the willingness to learn & develop your own ideas. However, it is necessary that you either have some background knowledge in non-formal education or speak a minimum of German before arrival. Please add your current language level in German to your motivation letter and explain why you are interested in our topics. Please also share what experience you've got in non-formal education. Please apply through PASS only. Please note that we can currently only accept applications from EU-Countries and Ukraine (you must have a valid residence permit for an EU member country when applying).
