Rainbow Center: Center for queer culture

Service national de la jeunesse

Rosa Lëtzebuerg asbl

Luxemburg, Luxembourg

Description

Rosa Lëtzebuerg is an LGBTIQ+ organisation, defending the rights of the queer community since 1996. Since 1999 the association is organizing the Luxembourg Pride. In May 2023, it opened the Rainbow Center, a center for queer culture. Its mission is to provide a safe space, to organise socio-cultural activities and to make queer culture more visible, on the one hand by providing premises right in the city center, but also by disseminating information via an online platform (queer.lu) and by publishing a quarterly magazine. The tasks of a volunteer will depend on interests and will be defined together. Possible tasks: - Rainbow Center activities: support the team in organizing exhibitions; panel discussions; workshops; socio-cultural activities, such as quiz nights, karaoke, movie nights, Open Mics etc. - Media and communication work: write or translate for queer.lu; putting content online; podcast production; social media work - Supporting the Luxembourg Pride organization team

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be housed in or around Luxembourg city, if possible in a shared house with other volunteers or young workers. Public transport is free in Luxembourg and we will make sure to find accomodation that is easily reachable by bus or train. The volunteer will get a monthly allowance for food and pocket money. In Luxembourg this allowance is defined by law and will be transferred by the coordinating organization to the volunteer's account.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will take part in a pre-departure training in their home country, an on arrival training in Luxembourg and other meetings organized by the coordinating organization. The Rainbow Center's team will accompany the volunteer throughout the project and regularly evaluate in the weekly team meetings. In addition, we will designate someone from outside the organization who will be responsible for accompanying the volunteer in defining their learning objectives and progress during the project. This person will also be the contact person in the event of conflicts within the organization.
