Description

We are looking for volunteers ready to work for 9 months in the Special School no 11 in Krakow, Poland, starting from 2.09.2025. Volunteer support students in the school routine: learning languages, participating in classes (language lessons, art, computers, music, social trainings, cooking, theater and more) as well as will help with eating, changing, cleaning. Volunteers also assist during school trips to other cities or inside the city of Krakow. Volunteer works 6 hours per day/30 hours per week in the school. Additionally, Foundation IB Polska (coordinating organization) organizes meetings and workshops dedicated to volunteer's self-development, intercultural learning, Polish history and language. Volunteers meet all together once per month for one day and also once per week in the afternoon with the ESC Team from IB Polska. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be accommodated in the flat with another ESC volunteers hosted in the project. There are mostly double rooms in the flat. We provide monthly cards for the public transport for volunteers to make it more comfortable to get to work or to our meeting. Every month volunteers receive pocket money and food allowance which is 250 € per month to their bank accounts. Volunteers from Europe should have EHIC, additionally Henner insurance is provided. Criminal record from each volunteer is required before starting the project.

Training during the activity

Each volunteer has to be prepared for the project by the sending organization. Coordinating organization (IB Polska) offers additional trainings regarding work with children and teenagers (PSEA) and self-development activities during the whole project. There is also on-arrival training offered by Polish National Agency and Mid-Term training in case volunteering lasts more than 6 months. Also hosting organization will provide small trainings about working with children with disabilities.

Participant profile

This project isn't easy, so we would like to invite volunteers with at least little experience in working with people with disabilities. All students in the school suffer from multiple disabilities, and they don't communicate or move in the normal way. They need more support than children with intellectual disabilities. Candidate has to be patient and ready to assist one chosen by the teacher student in everyday routine. Commutative English would help to understand better tasks, solve problems, talk with other volunteers and coordinators.
