Odysseus found home after 10 years of sailing - we will do so in 7 weeks, with 2 vans, while supporting and connecting with 5 eco-communities and 1 urban community. This is an opportunity for you to join a team of 15 people, to learn about sustainable living, to make a meaningful impact in - to find your Ithaca (*home). Each year has a different focus/theme/direction: ◎ migrant and refugees (year 1) ◎ addiction (year 2) ◎ mental and physical health (year 3) These focuses serve as an intention, a sort of a lens, that will support reflection and choice of certain communities. We also use traveling as part of our method - as a main way of learning about the world, and about oneself too.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation will be mostly in camping tents, where each volunteer will be provided with a tent, mattress, and pillow. Kitchen and common areas, both indoor and outdoor, will vary depending on the location and are generally in line with camping standards.You will receive a weekly budget for all the group in order to cook altogether Pocket money: You will receive 6€/day for your living money Besides the European Health insurance card, you are going to be offered a private insurance too.Υou are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate
Training during the activity
Modern Odyssey is a 3-year long volunteering project funded by the EACEA.It is a complex programme that uses green practices and community as a method to gain understanding about vulnerable groups and societial challenges. For this reason we put a focus/theme/direction for each year: migrant and refugees (year1) addiction (year 2) mental and physical health (year 3) These focuses serve as an intention, a sort of a lens, that will supportreflection and choice of certain communities. We also use travelling as part of our method as main way of learning about the world and about oneself too.
Participant profile
We are looking for individuals individuals: ◎ 18 - 30 years old ◎ legal residents of Erasmus+ program countries ◎ can enter Greece without a visa ◎ willing to embrace rural living for a duration of 7 weeks ◎ adapting to basic conditions while fostering a diverse and harmonious community ◎ enthusiastic for hands-on tasks such as farming, building, cooking and cleaning Additionally, individuals with media skills like photography, filmmaking, video editing, podcast creation, and content creation are highly encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to those who have overcome challenges.
