Description
The Youth Initiative Centre (YIC) aims to enhance youth civic activism and community development by promoting youth initiatives and active participation. YIC's mission is to improve youth's quality of life through a youth-centered approach. Since its inception, YIC has empowered over 4000 local and newcomer youth annually through non-formal and informal educational, social, and cultural activities. These activities include participation in local decision-making processes, volunteering opportunities, and preparation for meaningful employment. As part of the project theme, volunteers will assist in organizing overnight camps for adolescent girls as part of the GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) initiative. These camps aim to empower girls aged 13-15 through leadership training. Each camp hosts up to 40 participants, aiming 80 girls overall. Volunteers will support the organization of training sessions and capacity-building activities in project management, accompanying young woman.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will be hosted in Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia. YIC ensures adequate living and working standards for the volunteer. YIC will provide volunteers with safe and secure sufficient working conditions. This will include a separate workstation at YIC’s office in Gyumri (with a desk, storage space and computer), access to wi-fi, etc. Travel costs, accommodation, visa, vaccination will be covered by the project. Volunteer will receive additional monthly allowance to cover everyday life costs.
Training during the activity
This opportunity is part of BRIDGE project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development and Gender Equality), in which volunteers will have the opportunity to work on a common objective: empowerment and skills development of vulnerable communities, with a focus on women groups and enhance digital skills, participante in UN Woman Summits and animating digital workshops. More: - Armenian language course; - participation in relevant professional development events (including online opportunities); - participate in learning days (on cultural, professional, personal development topics).
Participant profile
Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months. The minimum requirements for the volunteer are: - Adaptability - Flexibility - English: speaking and writing - Competences in delivering trainings - Ability to work with youth and adolescents - Ability in developing non-formal educational curriculum - Willingness to learn and live in a different culture.
