Growing Together - Regenerating Land and Community

Evolving Cycles

Akrata, Greece

Description

Liveloula is one of Evolving Cycles’ Ecotopias, a permaculture homestead and learning hub nestled in the lush mountains of Seliana, Northern Peloponnese. For over a decade, it has been regenerating degraded land into abundant food forests, gardens and community spaces. Liveloula serves as a living example of natural, holistic living, offering education and inspiration to those seeking to reconnect with nature and themselves. As a space rooted in simplicity, sustainability and shared growth, it welcomes volunteers to become part of a vibrant rhythm of land stewardship, communal life and eco-conscious practices. The mission is to cultivate a regenerative lifestyle aligned with nature’s cycles. The current focus is deepening food forest design, improving soil and water systems and sharing skills in natural building, food preservation and community resilience. Volunteers are not just helping hands-they become part of the Liveloula family. Pleas read the InfoPack: https://shorturl.at/jlkDO

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be accommodated in large private tents with an added metal roof for extra shade and rain protection. Tents can be set up close to the communal spaces or in more private spots in the forest. Facilities include a shared kitchen, outdoor showers, compost toilets, and relaxing hangout areas. Food is mostly vegetarian, seasonal, and organic - sourced from our gardens or local producers. Volunteers share cooking duties. Travel costs are reimbursed according to ESC rules; all original or digital tickets must be kept. The nearest town is Akrata, reachable by bus or train from Athens.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will receive hands-on training in permaculture gardening, food forest creation, natural building, soil and water management and food preservation. Learning happens through daily activities, guided explanations and shared knowledge. Volunteers also support during seminars and may join both practical and theoretical sessions. A library of books is available for deeper study and continuous feedback, observation and curiosity are encouraged throughout the experience. Community living also nurtures soft skills like teamwork, adaptability and communication.

Participant profile

We’re looking for curious, open-hearted individuals who want to dive into permaculture, natural holistic living, gardening, regenerative design and community life. Ideal volunteers are motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn through hands-on experience in a rural, off-grid setting -1.5 km from the nearest village and 20 km from the closest supermarket. A positive attitude, willingness to live simply, and respect for nature and community rhythms are essential. Our infrastructure is basic and not wheelchair accessible, so good physical health is important, as tasks are often outdoors and physical. Volunteers stay in spacious private tents (with an additional metal roof for shade and rain protection) and are encouraged to make it their home for the full duration of the stay. If you’re ready to live close to the land, work with your hands, and be part of a welcoming, nature-connected community-Liveloula is waiting for you.
